The chamber’s charity golf day returned this August, with members, sponsors and friends spending a sunny day on the course for a good cause. Proceeds support food banks serving local families.
The day
Teams of four set off at the morning shotgun start and played through the afternoon. Sponsors hosted holes with small games and prizes, and a barbecue lunch kept everyone fuelled. For first-time players the organisers arranged a short clinic with a volunteer instructor, so no one felt left out.
Why it matters
Food banks across the region report rising demand. A day on the course is a pleasant way to raise funds and to meet other members in a relaxed setting. Several business owners said they found a new supplier or client while waiting at the tee.
- Closest-to-the-pin and longest-drive prizes were donated by members.
- A raffle supported the community fund.
- A dinner and short awards presentation closed the day.
Organisers said the mood on the course was the real reward: laughter on every hole, neighbours cheering each other on, and a shared sense that a small effort from many people adds up to real help for families.
The chamber thanks the sponsors, the volunteers and the course staff. If your company would like to sponsor a hole next year, contact the events team. Photos from the day are in the gallery.
